It's been ages since we last made a grocery post! We thought it was time that we share some of our new and old favourite vegan products, plus some products we're trying for the first time.
Today I'm sharing a variety of different "shopping trips" from the last few weeks to show some of our favourite spots to shop for vegan products and to highlight some of our personal favourites. We've included the prices for most of the items (most of which are in Canadian $$, unless specified) as well as the weights/volumes for you to compare. Not every item has it's exact price listed because my purse seems to be a black hole for receipts? I've passed receipt duty over to William now so it shouldn't happen again! We grocery shop at Superstore regularly so I did my best to remember what we usually pay and included those prices. The approximate prices include a "~" instead of a "-".
This is 3 separate shops from Vitacost, Costco, and Superstore. We've linked many of the products to their respective brand/products pages in case you want to learn more about anything specific.

Old Favourites and New Finds
Vegenaise - A classic favourite and key ingredient to our Lentil & Chickpea Salad Sandwiches.
Vegan cheese - Our first resealable bag of Daiya, yay!
Vegan Chocolate - I loved the Chocolove Cherries & Almonds Dark Chocoate, but I wasn't a fan of the Enjoy Life Rice Milk Chocolate - I thought it tasted like cheap chocolate and it was kind of pricey! The Justin's peanut butter cups are also a delicious alternative to Reese's peanut butter cups.
Vitacost Banana chips - perfect for trail mix!
Woodstock Organic Baby Dill Pickles - I'm always on the lookout for the crunchiest and tangiest of dill pickles. These are pretty darn good!
Soyganic Smoked Tofu - SO good sliced and served with pickles and Triscuits. I used to love smoked gouda so this is a nice vegan option to enjoy (until Daiya's new smoked gouda hits Alberta grocery stores!)
Now Raw Cashews - So far, Vitacost seems to be the cheapest option for raw cashews in my area. Any suggestions for other cheap options in Canada?
Parnoosh Sayer Dates - My go-to brand of dates, they're soft, already pitted, and cheaper than Medjool.
Fontaine Sante Roasted Garlic Hummus - My favourite hummus 😀 Not into store-bought hummus? We've got an ultra velvety recipe for Roasted Garlic Red Lentil Hummus you're sure to love!
Kal Nutritional Yeast - We've been using this stuff since we went vegan and it is awesome. $15 for a big tub but it lasts for ages!
Mrs Meyer's Clean Day Basil Dish Soap and Multi-Surface Cleaner - Testing out some new green cleaners for around the home. This stuff is Leaping Bunny certified and it smells SO good. It almost makes cleaning fun! (Almost...)

Woah Thank you for all that information on grocery-shopping, especially because I am new in Canada and I don't know the products here and where to get them.
Cheers,
Lisa

Thank you for posting this! 🙂 By the way, I am thinking of splurging in the fall, and was wondering if you had published any cookbooks? I love the recipes you have made, and I have been following this blog for awhile.
If you could get back to me, that would be splendid. 🙂
Brittany
You are very welcome! I have not published any cookbooks yet, hopefully in the future! We're hoping to start working on an ebook of recipes but nothing in print yet. Thanks for the support! 😀 😀

I'm with you on the Parnoosh dates! They're so good and such a cost effective option! Great post 🙂
Brittany
I know! They're fantastic! Perfect for date bars 😀

Sweet. I didn't know that the hummus was so cheap at Costco. I loved Vitacost when I lived in the US but did not consider it once I moved back to Canada. The shipping wasn't too high?
Brittany
Nope! It's something like $11 flat shipping to Canada so I just try to get everything I need at once and make an order every few months. Also, that hummus is SO good!
Natalie
You are so lucky to have access to all this vegan food. Where I live I have to get from Publix/Winn Dixie and Walmart. The nearest Whole Foods and Trader Joes is over an hour away. So I haven't been able to find any nooch. There is a small mom and pop whole foods type of store in my town but they are way too expensive. I'm surprised they are still in business. Whole Foods is way cheaper than them! I had the Daiya key lime pie. Have you tried that??
Brittany
You should definitely check out Vitacost then! I've always had to order my nutritional yeast online. I've also ordered it from iHerb and The Better Health Store, they've all got good shipping rates. I've never even set foot in a Whole Foods OR Trader Joes! But we're lucky that our local Superstore and Costco has a good selection of vegan products. I haven't tried any of Daiya's non-cheese products, was the key-lime pie good? It sounds delicious! Thanks for commenting Natalie!
